Anna Faris is an American actress, singer and comedienne. I enjoyed Smiley Face. The jokes are not all winners and some portions grow a little tiresome, but I was amused for most of its scant 85 minute runtime. Anna Faris deserves much of the credit. It’s pretty brave for an actress like her to play an annoying, totally self centered and quite unattractive character. Female leads in comedies almost always get to show off how sweet and/or beautiful they are at some point. Anna Faris can be both of those things, but here playing a funny, consistent and believable character comes first.
Faris is one of only a few women who excel at physical humor, and the star of ‘‘The House Bunny,’’ which opens on Aug. 22, is also one of the few comedic actresses not to be constantly cast as the unfunny love interest of the leading man.
